Glutz UK was able to solve this problem in one fell swoop with its eAccess system, which together with the rest of the door set and hardware, provided Get Living with a PAS24-tested, fire-rated door solution. Each of the 482 apartment FD-30 rated entrance doors feature a Glutz eAccess handle and locking system with a stylish high grade lever to match on both sides of the door from the Glutz professional Range in practical and hardwearing stainless steel.
Each entrance door uses a key fob to lock on the outer side, with a simple push button locking mechanism on the inside. This keyless system allows the doors to meet Secured by Design (SbD) and NHBC guidance requirements that all the entrance doors to apartments on the first floor and above should not close locked without a key: tenants must be able to return to their apartment if they forget their fob. The same system is used for communal areas with wall readers for the fobs needed to open the doors. Repeaters throughout the building boost the system signal to ensure seamless operation.
The system - designed in-house by Glutz UK - allows Get Living to operate, maintain and secure the door system easily and effectively from a single remote point. Audit information on every door is held not only at the door, but also within the system software. When a tenant leaves, the system can be updated centrally, negating the risk of rogue keys and without the expense and hassle of having to change locks.
All door hardware was scheduled and supplied by Glutz including bathroom doors, communal areas, and riser cupboards as well as the apartment entrance doors. This included concealed overhead closers to maintain the building’s sleek, minimalist design, together with other products complying with the client’s requirement for minimal maintenance.
Glutz formed a close working relationship with Get Living and main contractor MACE who are controlling distribution of the Glutz hardware on site to joinery subcontractors to ensure total continuity of door schedules throughout the buildings. All of Glutz hardware is guaranteed and will be maintained by the company after the initial two-year initial period to ensure that it maintains optimum performance and avoid any divorce liability disputes.
The installation of the Glutz system at Victory Plaza completed in May 2019. Glutz will also be rolled out across the remaining Get Living’s portfolio of 1,439 homes in East Village.
